ABOUT THE CLUB

The Rotary Club of Aberdeen Bon Accord is one of  Aberdeen’s newest and only breakfast club and was formed in 2004.

A group of younger individuals from diverse backgrounds have bonded together to establish a new Rotary club specifically focusing on more youthful members, enabling the next generation to enjoy the many benefits Rotary can provide to it’s members and the wider community.

“Bon Accord" - Happy to meet, sorry to part, happy to meet again. Although the City of Aberdeen has proudly boasted this motto since 1430, and one which reflects true fellowship , it took more than 100 years of Rotary to see a club within Aberdeen adopt this name.

Membership is by invitation only but we are still looking to recruit a limited number of individuals of both genders, from all ethnic and religious backgrounds, who are interested in furthering the aims of a quality organisation.

Since June 2007 the Rotary Club of Aberdeen Bon Accord has raised money through a variety of fundraising events and distributed over £10,500 to a variety of local and international charitable causes including :

Project Scotland
Impact Foundation
Aquabox
Shelterbox
Cornerstone Care
RGU Pakistan Ambulance Appeal
Sightsavers International
Chernobyl Childrens Lifeline
Friends of Anchor
Dumfries and Galloway Action
Rotary Foundation

We have also participated in supporting other community events, and at our breakfast meetings each week have enjoyed a variety of entertaining and thought provoking speakers.

About Rotary

FRESH IDEAS BUILT ON TRADITION

The first Rotary was formed on 23rd February 1905 in Chicago USA

There are now over 30 000 clubs in more than 160 countries worldwide all of whom meet weekly (some now in email format).

Membership of any Rotary entitles members to attend meetings of other clubs and provides access to a global fellowship organisation which extends to well over a million members

Interested in joining us?

We meet at the Cults Hotel in Cults, Aberdeen at 7.15 on a Wednesday morning and finish at 8.30 prompt.

Joining a new club means that new ideas can be more easily reflected.

The Rotary Constitution encourages a high attendance rate endorsing the aims of fellowship.  However, we recognise that commitment and contribution takes many forms and simply ask members to attend more meetings than they miss and ask that absences are made up in other ways.  Once you have heard more we think you’ll want to be involved!

About Rotary

A FRESH INTERPRETATION

More than a business network the formal objectives of Rotary are to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST - The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND - High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD - The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life;

FOURTH - The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service
